Day 4:                                                Monday, July 28

Our final day in San Francisco was short. After breakfast, we loaded the busses and headed for the cable cars which we rode over Nob Hill. Then, we got a surprise invitation to perform at City Hall which made for a beautiful venue with lovely acoustics. After a few songs there, it was time to say goodbye to the city and head to the airport.

Day 3:                                Sunday, July 27, 11:45 PDT

Today, we got to see the real San Francisco fog. We tried to go up to the top of Twin Peaks but had no view what so ever. Then we headed down to Golden Gate Park where we performed in front of the bandshell which was under renovation. Despite the weather, we had a good umber of audience members. After the concert, we went to Sausalito for a very quick lunch but the view was wonderful. Muir Woods left us all in awe before a fun evening in Chinatown. The highlight of the evening though was probably singing in Ghirardelli Square after some delicious hot fudge sundaes.

Day 2:                                Saturday, July 26, 11:30 PDT

Even though the bus didn’t take off until 8:30 this morning, everyone was up by 7:00 because of the jet lag. Our first event of the day was a short city tour by bus with a quick stop in Union Square. Then it was back to Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf for shopping and lunch, and boy did this group shop! Then we took the ferry over to Alcatraz where we all did the excellent audio tour. We were a little rushed changing into uniforms at the hotel but did get to St. Mary’s in time for a quick rehearsal before our concert and the mass, which both went well. We had a very good Italian dinner before heading back to the hotel, at which point part of the group took a walk to the “crookedest street in the world,” Lombard Street.

Day 1:                                Friday, July 25, 10:45 PDT

Everyone (and all their luggage) arrived safe and sound this morning, just a little bit late. We got on the bus and headed down to Stanford. After a quick peak inside the chapel, we had lunch in the cafeteria and then headed down to Los Altos where we had a great clinic with Elena Sharkova, a wonderful, very energetic conductor in the Bay Area. We finally made our way up into San Francisco proper and headed straight to a buffet dinner at North Beach Pizza (with a little diversion to sing for the sea lions) before a little free time on Pier 39 and then it was off to the hotel to check in for the night.
