Erin Fraher, PhD, MPP

Erin P. Fraher, PhD, MPP is a tenured Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Director of the Carolina Health Workforce Research Center. Her Center provides state and federal policy makers with the data and evidence needed to inform health workforce training, deployment, and regulation in a rapidly changing health care system. Dr. Fraher is the Deputy Director for Policy at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research where she is frequently called upon by legislators, government officials, educators, employers, professional associations, and regulators to conduct analyses on a wide variety of emerging health workforce topics. She is the immediate past Chair of the Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME) which is charged with advising the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Congress on workforce trends, training issues and financing. An expert in comparative health systems, Dr. Fraher has worked for the National Health Service in England, Health Workforce New Zealand, and the College of Nurses of Ontario in Canada.
