Innovation Showcase

At the innovation showcase, the PCC highlighted four organizations that are implementing real-world, innovative approaches that are strengthening and bolstering primary care. Innovator presentations were chosen by PCC members NCQA and URAC from a wide collection of submissions. 

All four presentations were recognized by the PCC with awards recognizing their role as innovators in their respective fields.

The innovators included:

• John Morgan from Waymark, who presented on how Waymark’s early intervention program is helping connect Medicaid patients with primary care and social services to provide them with the resources and support they need to avoid developing chronic conditions;
• Ramsey Abdallah from Northwell Health, who presented on how Northwell implemented cross-system screening for depression and integrated behavioral health services deeper into primary and specialty care services;
• Jacob Mirsky from the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Healthy Lifestyle Program, who presented on how MGH has launched group visits focused on lifestyle medicine, generating impressive outcomes for patients’ health;
• And Daniel Kim from Adventist Health, who presented on how Adventist Health’s primary-care focused ACO has generated better health outcomes and significant savings.

Following the presentations, the audience was asked to weigh in on three accolades:

• What innovation would change the world if scaled? (World Changer Accolade)
• What innovation would be worth investing in if you had a million dollars? (Million Dollar Accolade)
• What innovation is just a wild enough idea to work? (Wild Genius Accolade)

The audience bestowed the World Changer Accolade to Ramsey Abdallah and Northwell Health; the Million Dollar Accolade to Dr. John Morgan and Waymark; and the Wild Genius Accolade to Daniel Kim and Adventist Health.

Finally,  Dr. Jacob Mirsky from MGH was presented with the Judge’s Choice, which recognized the most compelling innovation presented at the showcase. It was bestowed by a panel that included PCC Board Chair and Innovaccer GM Sean Hogan, National Partnership for Women and Families Director of Health Transformation Sarah Coombs and Cummins, Inc., Chief Medical Executive Director Dr. Bob Chestnut.
