As Congress returned November 12th, PCC joined with 62 organizations in urging Congressional Committee Leadership to support bipartisan behavioral health integration legislation in any year-end legislative package.
This bill, if signed into law, would address workforce shortages and lack of care coordination by incentivizing primary care to integrate behavioral health. It will also support clinicians and practices in adopting evidence-based, integrated delivery models. By facilitating coordinated care between health professionals in the primary care setting, these team-based models have the capacity to increase access, reduce wait times for treatments, improve patient outcomes and reduce overall treatment costs.
PCC, our Better Health-NOW partners, and the other signatories to the letter agree the COMPLETE Care Act would be a much-needed step toward ensuring integrated behavioral health care is more widely implemented, so patients and clinicians can get the support they need.
