Dr. Todd May is a practicing family physician and serves as Vice President Medical Director at Health Net. He is responsible for supporting all clinical aspects of the Commercial line of business, including promoting quality improvement efforts, supporting Account Management teams, and engaging with employer clients and purchasers. He also is deeply engaged in population health management, health equity, advanced primary care, and implementation of innovative member engagement programs.
Dr. May represents Health Net in several high–profile statewide initiatives. He is the clinical leader for a unique multiple health plan collaborative working with the poorest performing hospitals to improve their performance. He also is providing key leadership in an innovative multi–payer initiative to promote Advanced Primary Care in California.
Immediately prior to joining Health Net, Dr. May was a Professor at UCSF for over 20 years. During this tenure, he served as Chief of the Medical Staff and then as Chief Medical Officer at the San Francisco General Hospital campus. He has been a practicing family physician for over 30 years and continues to see patients at a community clinic in Half Moon Bay.
